2005 Syrah “Southern Exposure” - Estate Grown
(Shenandoah Valley (CA))

Extremely dark red color. Somewhat closed at the outset showing mostly allspice, clove, and vanilla at this stage. Amazingly round, packed with concentrated extract but not overripe or alcoholic. Sweet, fine, dense tannins, with broad plum and peach flavors, a long, minerally finish and a lift of lime at the very end. An encouraging approach which avoids overripeness, and very sound for ageing. A very satisfying drink.
